A single powerful tip to find fulfillment as a stay at home mom

Published by admin on

“What work do you have all day long? Why didn’t you get this done?” “How can you be tired? You’re home all day, you can rest whenever you want”.

Sounds familiar? Most stay at home moms, have heard this at one point or the other in their lives. Totally annoying and 100% untrue. What they don’t realize is that if they are lucky enough to come after work or school to a clean house, shower and change to fresh clothes and sit on the table to eat delicious food, it’s all courtesy the homemaker.

Questions like these might just break you. You get upset and feel unappreciated. What you need to realize is that they love you, and these comments are not coming from a wrong place. In fact they aren’t even thinking when they tell things like that. But you are. You suddenly remember all the sacrifices you made to create this beautiful home. You remember every ounce of energy, love and time you put into getting everything to be perfect.

Are you giving simple household chores more importance than they deserve?

How many of us get up in the morning with the thought of what to cook for breakfast or what are the pending chores that you need to get to. We need to agree that these are not the most world changing, passionate, inspiring thoughts you should have the first thing in the morning.

  • When was the last time you had a WOW moment?
  • Do you remember the last time you laughed till your stomach hurt?
  • When the last time you amazed yourself with what you created?
  • When was the last time you felt like you helped someone change their life?

If you had to think for some time to answer these questions, then you need to re-evaluate your life and its priorities.

Spend some time today and look at all the certificates and awards you received when you were in school, college or work. Pick one that means the most to you. Try and remember how it made you feel to receive it? The happiness and pride you felt when you saw your parents smile, your friends cheer. The confidence it gave you. Don’t you miss it? Your life should be filled with moments like those.

How do you live a fulfilled and balanced life? For this, your life needs to have a purpose that drives you. Finding your purpose in life outside of being a mom is very important.

Purpose is nothing but your inner calling. It is finding out how you can impact the world in a positive way with the skill and talents that you have been blessed with.

  • Do you want to start a business and sell a product that will improve people’s lives?
  • Would you like to write an eBook to share your knowledge on a topic you’re good at?
  • Do you want to teach a skill that you have, like sketching, candle making, crocheting, baking etc?

Along with adding value to people’s lives, you can make some money and get a chance to meet new people. It’s a total win win situation.

It’s never too late.

You don’t have to know for sure what you need to do or how you’re going to do it right away. Even if you just had a thought that Yes! I need to get my life back. That alone is a great beginning.

Every successful person started with a thought, then went on to create a plan and backed it up with action. Boom! SUCCESS!

Success does not mean being selfish and greedy. It does not mean that you’re not a good wife or mom. In fact, when you create a life that you deserve to live, your family is going to be happier than you will be. They’ll be proud and ecstatic that he is YOUR husband or that they are YOUR children.

Live an inspiring life. Remember, little ones are watching you. They are looking at you for inspiration, positive things that they can expect from their future. What you do speaks so loud, that what you say is not heard. Instead of teaching them how to live their lives, show them.

If you’re a working mom and you feel like the job you’re in, is not where your passion lies. Then quit right now. Quitting immediately is not an option? then come up with a plan to pursue your passion as a side hustle. When this side hustle reaches a certain point of success, you can quit your job.

All these need planning and strategising. But you’ll love it. You don’t even have to reach a point of success. Just the fact that you’re able to find time to indulge in what you love doing will change your life. It can have a huge impact on you physically and emotionally.

Don’t have enough time?

You don’t have to stay away from your kids all day. Even if you’re able to give this an hour a day, it’s still good. Maybe early morning when your kids are asleep or when they are taking their afternoon nap. It’s still better than doing nothing. No matter how small a progress is, it’s still PROGRESS!

Don’t have enough money?

If what you’re passionate about involves some kind of investment. Be resourceful. Think of people who can help you with this. If you do not want to borrow money, how about taking up a job so you can fund your passion? It can be a part time job. A job online like simple data entry. It doesn’t have to be your perfect job. Just a job that can make you some money.

Don’t have enough energy?

Think of what you’re spending your energy on, and if it is worth it. Nobody cares if the bathroom tiles are spotless, or the dresses in your cupboard are arranged according to the colors and patterns.  If it’s clean, that’s good enough. Plan and prioritize.

Don’t have enough knowledge, skill and experience?

Come on! We live in a world where what we want to do with our lives, no matter how crazy or weird it is, someone has already done it successfully. She/he has most probably written a book or an article on how to do it step by step.

Google is your best friend, Leverage it! If it’s technical knowledge that you might need, then how about joining a short online course to learn it?

There is nothing to stop you from achieving your biggest goal. If it’s anything, it’s your limiting beliefs. Stop telling yourself it’s too late, it’s too much, I’m too young, I’m too old, I’m not capable, it’s too hard etc. You deserve to live the best version of your life.

Yes it is possible to fulfill the needs of your family and yourself and enjoy the best of both worlds. You just need to take action. NOW!!
